CDI program

The CDI program is a major NSF initiative designed to foster "a new generation of computationally based discovery concepts and tools to deal with complex, data-rich, and interacting systems". AIM will will hold a workshop (described below) to assist teams in the formulation of a research program and the preparation of a CDI proposal.

For more information about the AIM CDI workshop, email workshops@aimath.org. Please include CDI in the subject line.

The Mathematics Institutes IPAM, MSRI, SAMSI, and MBI will host a series of introductory workshops to inform the mathematical community about this initiative. In addition, to the AIM CDI workshop, the IMA has opportunities for teams preparing CDI proposals.

For more information on the CDI program, see the Mathematics Institutes CDI page or the NSF announcement.

AIM CDI workshop

On December 17-19, 2007, AIM will host a workshop for teams preparing a submission to the Cyber-enabled Discovery and Innovation (CDI) program.

The workshop will consist of experienced facilitators working one-on-one with teams planning and preparing their CDI pre-proposal. In addition, an NSF representative will provide an overview of the CDI initiative and be present to answer related questions.

AIM has substantial experience a fostering collaborative research in mathematics, and this workshop will be of significant help to teams preparing mathematics-based proposals which will be competitive in the NSF-wide CDI initiative. Participants will begin work prior to the workshop, and a substantial portion of the workshop will be spent on proposal development and preparation.

Proposals for the CDI program require a letter of intent by November 30, followed be a pre-proposal due on January 8. To apply for the AIM workshop, just send your letter of intent to workshops@aimath.org and indicate which members of your team are available to participate in the AIM workshop. The AIM staff is also available prior to submission of the letter of intent; please contact us if you would like more information.
