The AIM facilityThe layout of AIM is particularly well-suited to the style of workshops we run. Most activities take place in a large room with whiteboards and seating for lectures at one end. The lecture area is partitioned from the rest of the room by low bookcases. Along one side of the room are rows of tall bookcases, and the remainder of the room consists of sitting areas, open space, and tables for coffee and snacks. The bookcases contain the AIM reprint library (100,000 reprints, two-thirds of which have been catalogued) and approximately 14,000 math books. This space is comfortable for the workshop participants because it is easy to get coffee or a snack during a lecture, and there are plenty of places to sit quietly. But everyone is in the same location which encourages collaboration. Off the main room are three seminar rooms and two additional rooms with Windows and Linux computers, printers, photocopiers, etc. The main room and the seminar rooms have whiteboards. In addition there are two overhead projectors with screens, and a computer projector. | ||||||
